As from 1 September 2008 the business operations of Carbon Market Economics (CME) was split into two separate companies – CME and Green Energy Markets (GEM).

During the course of 2008 CME has operated as two separate divisions with their own business development strategies. One division focussed on strategic advice and analysis on the transition towards a carbon constrained economy. The other division concentrated on assistance to renewable and sustainable energy market participants. In order to maximise the development of both businesses it was decided to split CME into two distinct businesses. In recognition of the need to maintain the best database of operating and proposed renewable electricity generation plants, the new businesses will jointly own and maintain the Register of Australian Renewable Electricity Generators.

Green Energy Markets (GEM) is a dynamic research and advisory business established in 2008 with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing renewable energy and distributed generation and improving energy efficiency. Our services are directed at sustainable energy businesses, government and government agencies, energy producers and energy consumers.
